During the rise of the Roman Empire, the Latin verb vincere exemplified the ethos of what the Roman Empire was all about.
Vincere means TO CONQUER— and bruh, conquering they did.
Through a sophisticated combination of political, economic, technological, and military prowess, at the height of its powers, the Roman Empire stretched all the way from Britain to the Euphrates River, from Scotland to the deserts of North Africa.
Oddly enough, the past participle of the verb vincere, VICTUS, meant both CONQUERED and LIVING.
Within the walls of the Colosseum, a game of blood and sand would entertain the masses— high-level problem-solving with DIRE physical consequences— a game of life or death would be played.
INVICTUS stood the gladiators who were formidable enough to survive the brutality of the bloodsports they were doomed to partake in.
INVICTUS, unconquered, undefeated— NOT A VICTIM, in the literal sense, de facto still living against all odds— sticking the middle finger up in the air defiantly as an expression of resiliency in the face of adversity.
Zero fucks given, bruh, just sheer will to live.
In those days, not being the victim, not folding, not losing was a sign of the often forgotten virtue called GLORY— but these days, though, a lack of resilience is somehow glorified— being a victim somehow inspires praise, not pity.
Shit is backward.
Striving shouldn't be a sign of privilege but a resonance of the human spirit, the will to live, to overcome, to CONQUER our obstacles.
VINCERE in Latin, VENCER in Portuguese, TO WIN in English.
Invictus stands those of us who REFUSES TO QUIT— despite adversity, despite suffering, despite age, despite ANYTHING.
We are all thrown into this world without much say in which circumstances we're born— but it's up to us to OWN OUR FATE, wear our fucking scars like armor, like a sign of glory, and do our best to create a life worth living.
'Cause exactly like the gladiators in the pit, if you don't fight, bruh, you'll just DIE.
Steel in hand, my bruddah, STAY ON THE IRON PATH!
Big KISS
THE POTATO MAN
Are you not wrong! We live in an age where EVERYONE is a victim! You screwed up at work, not your fault there was a failure in training. Failed a test? Not your fault, you weren't given proper instruction. Got hurt doing something stupid? Not your fault, there wasn't a sign posted. The list goes on and on and on. Everyone wants an excuse for everything, everyone needs to be validated. And the best is IF you are a person that takes the reigns, tries to improve themselves, tries to be successful, oh now you are just showing "toxic masculinity". We are living in Fn clown world! Everone gets a massive trophy for participating OR not... because you can't gve one person a trophy and not another person because that wouldn't be "inclusive"... Our whole society is going to shit. We need more people out there like you supporting people's positive accomplishments and assisting with goals, and less coddling and victimizing. People need to be held accountable...
