IDEAL PROTEIN INTAKE in a CALORIC DEFICIT and in a CALORIC SURPLUS.

The question:
POTATO MAN! So, all this info/bro-science about protein intake is killing me. There is little context for the recommendations (cutting requires more protein vs bulking). I have plenty of fat stores (>20% bf), and I know I need to be on a caloric deficit, but I can’t quite understand the extremely high protein recommendations given that I have so much available energy jiggling on my body still. I’m fairly strong, but fatty. What is the ideal RANGE of protein consumption for a fatty who wants to maintain my muscle while losing fat? Also, is gaining strength while losing fat possible *in my case*?
